What is the suspension systems ?

Suspension system is designed to provide a smooth and stable ride. It mainly consists of springs, shock absorbers, and various linkages. When the vehicle encounters bumps or uneven road surfaces, the springs compress to absorb the impact energy, preventing it from directly transferring to the vehicle body. Meanwhile, the shock absorbers work in tandem with the springs. They control the oscillation of the springs, ensuring that the vehicle doesn't bounce continuously after hitting a bump. By dissipating the kinetic energy generated from the road irregularities, the suspension system keeps the wheels in firm contact with the ground as much as possible, thus maintaining good traction and handling.

Maintenance:
  1. Regular Inspections: Routinely check the suspension components for any signs of wear, damage, or leaks. Look closely at the shock absorbers for oil seepage, which indicates potential failure. Inspect the springs for cracks or deformities.
  2. Wheel Alignment: Have the wheel alignment checked periodically. Incorrect alignment can put excessive stress on the suspension and lead to uneven tire wear, reducing both the lifespan of the tires and the efficiency of the suspension.
  3. Shock Absorber Replacement: Based on the vehicle's usage and mileage, replace the shock absorbers when they start to lose their damping effectiveness. This usually happens after several years or a significant number of miles driven. A simple bounce test on each corner of the vehicle can give you an initial indication of shock absorber health. If the vehicle bounces more than a couple of times after being pushed down, it's time to consider replacement.
