Policies Boost Intelligent Connected Vehicle Sector, China’s Auto Industry Accelerates High-Quality Development

  Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China has promoted the formulation of the "15th Five-Year Plan" for the development of intelligent connected new energy vehicles. It keeps advancing vehicle-road-cloud integration pilots and improving national standards for autonomous driving and on-board intelligent systems, to build an integrated industrial ecosystem covering complete vehicles, core components and operation services.

  The competition logic of China’s auto market is undergoing profound changes. The industry is gradually moving away from vicious price competition, and pursuing high-quality development through technological innovation, independent supply chain control and product upgrading. In the first half of 2026, China’s automobile exports maintained steady growth, with new energy vehicles acting as the main growth driver. The penetration rate of new vehicles equipped with L2 advanced driver assistance systems keeps rising, and L3 conditional autonomous driving has started commercial operation in specific regions.

  Breakthroughs are continuously achieved in power battery technologies including 800V high-voltage fast charging, semi-solid batteries and sodium-ion batteries, effectively solving user concerns about driving range, charging efficiency and low-temperature performance. The new mandatory safety standard for electric vehicles has come into force, setting stricter requirements for power battery thermal runaway protection.

  A host of new vehicle models will be launched in the second half of the year, bringing large-scale commercial application of intelligent cockpit and autonomous driving technologies. Domestic automakers optimize product portfolios for the local market, while building overseas manufacturing bases to cope with changes in global trade policies and expand global layout.
